About the conference
The Ethiopian Cybersecurity Association (ECySA) is a registered professional non-profit association established to safeguard the Ethiopian cybersecurity ecosystem by creating a collaborative platform through empowering citizens, government, academia, and businesses as well as instilling a cybersecurity culture in Ethiopia. With this, ECySA has organized different working groups, such as Cybersecurity Law, Marketing & Media, Networking & Partnership, Technology and R&D, Training and Consultancy, and University Students Club. The technological revolution is marked by emerging technologies including robotics, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, quantum computing, biotechnology, the Internet of Things, 3D printing, and autonomous vehicles. This revolution enables developing economies to leapfrog directly sprinting towards digitalization and a knowledge-driven socio-economic system. However, digital transformation initiatives require careful planning, executing, and delivering a usable and sustainable solution, based on home-grown approach that addresses the country’s unique realities, factoring cultural practices, traditional norms and customs, and local regulatory & legal requirements. Cognizant of cybersecurity as prime concern in digital transformation, ECySA trusts in digital first design principle where cybersecurity is inculcated at the design stage and followed through execution. Cybersecurity is a team effort that requires collaboration and coordination with national and global key stakeholders. Therefore, ECySA endeavors to bring government, academia, and private businesses to a policy dialog and collaborate in a shared framework and standard. We believe governmental and non-governmental bodies, regional and international organizations, civil societies and associations, and private businesses and corporations have a stake in realizing a safe and secure cybersecurity space.
